10th World Literature August 1- August 5

Monday- Introduce course; discuss flags as symbols; students created individual flags
Tuesday- Students created mission statements and symbols; global scavenger hunt; students put their symbol on part of the world (on map) that they have a connection to
Wednesday-Students review hero's journey; students are put into group and assigned a type of hero to create a poster with examples for
Thursday- Students presented posters as groups; writing instruction; Prompt "What type of hero is Odysseus?" is given to class; Brainstorm as a class for essay
Friday- Reviewed brainstorm from previous day; Wrote a thesis and body paragraph as a class; students got in groups from previous 2 days and wrote group paragraphs that support the thesis statement created at beginning of class
